India - Sponsored Education Programme

Sponsored Education Programme

In parts of India, many children are unable to attend school due to poverty and the prohibitive cost to parents. Even if they manage to provide their children with something to eat, they don’t have the means to buy the necessary provisions for schooling. Therefore, the benefits of what an education could bring to these communities are never realised.
In June 2007, we met Joson John, who has been helping families through the St Joseph Society. He has requested our help to fund a project, which will help provide the means to get these children into the classroom. Joson, has identified the schools and approximately 500 children that need help the most.

What will your sponsorship provide?

Your sponsorship would provide the essentials for educating a child so that they can attend school, such as text books, pens, pencils etc that their parent just do not have the ability to provide for them
Just £2.50 per month would enable a child to go to school and be educated

How would a child be selected for sponsorship?

The managers of the schools will identify the children with the greatest need and Joson will personally oversee the list to ensure that the very poorest in the community receive the sponsorship

Period of Sponsorship

The children would be thankful for any donation you can afford. Twenty five pounds would cover the cost for one year but of course once a child is on the programme we would like to provide for them until the end of their education, so regular yearly giving would be a wonderful gift

How do you know the difference your sponsorship will make?

Joson has pledged to send photos of the sponsored children and report on their personal progress and of the programme as a whole. We will put the reports onto this website, or you can contact us for more details and the latest news. If a child fails their exams more than twice in the same year they could be listed out of the programme at the decision of the school manager.
