Swaziland, Africa

Noreen heard an amazing story from her work colleague Matthew Amend of how a few people have turned an abandoned mining town into a Christian mission helping orphans. In February 2010 GCF sent new and nearly new baby and childrens clothing to Lee Anne McFarland for the ABC Orphanage in Bulembu . Lee Ann fills a gap providing love and support for local children who parents leave daily to work in the village.

Swaziland is a country on the brink of hopelessness. The HIV AIDS pandemic is growing and the result is a generation of children who are living with single parents or as orphans in near poverty. Enduduzweni (meaning 'place of comfort') Care Centre, Bulembu, Swaziland was started by Missionary Lee Ann McFarland to meet the needs of vulnerable children in the community of Bulembu. Although many children attending the centre have a working parent, many of them are still neglected when it comes to affection, nutritious meals, hygiene, and schooling. For these children, Enduduzweni is a beacon of hope and a place of comfort. Instead of being locked in or out of a house while the parent works, the child is free to eat, play and learn in a Christian environment. For the more capable parents, Enduduzweni is a place where parents can leave their children in safe hands. The centre opened in 2006 and today employs 7 full time workers and cares for up to 60 children, between the ages of 2-6. There is also a daily afternoon program for older school aged. Your support helps Lee Ann to build leaders and invest hope in Bulembu.

Picture shows 46 members from the International Community Church in Surrey UK visiting the orphanage in October 2009 to offer help and support which many found life changing.
